About the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art

Every 6 weeks at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, a new art exhibit is put on display, featuring artwork provided from local, national, and even international artists. One exhibit that is currently taking place is the 9th Annual Altered Book Exhibit. This exhibit is available until June 2nd, 2018, and focuses on over 150 pieces of book artwork. An upcoming event, which begins on June 16th and last July 29th, is the make Your Mark Exhibit. This event focuses on mark-making and how it distinguishes one artist from the next. The Marin Museum of Contemporary Art offers many things to do for those visiting the museum, such as classes and membership opportunities to those who are interested in becoming more involved. Becoming a member of the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art can allow artists to submit their artwork into exhibits, in the main gallery of the museum, and at 5 other venues. The museum also offers the MarinMOCA In Residence Program, wherein an artist can be given a studio space to hone in on their practice and expand as an artist.

Located at the Hamilton Field, the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Wednesdays through Fridays. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends. As was mentioned previously, entry into the museum is free, but by becoming a member of the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art you can receive invitations to membership events hosted by the museum, and 15% off of the museum store.
