The Hamilton Field History Museum stands to preserve the history of the city of Novato, California, while also providing the history of the tribe that resided on the land long before Novato was established as an official city. The Hamilton Field History Museum is apart of the Novato Historical Guild, which is a collaboration of institutions that all focus on preserving some aspect of the history of Novato, California. Some exhibits that the Hamilton Field History Museum showcases consist of model airplanes and Link Trainer. The focus of the Hamilton Field History Museum is to observe the history of Hamilton Field and the Hamilton Field Air Force Base, which was founded in 1947 and was decommissioned in 1976. This air force and the training field are the reason that most of the memorabilia within this museum follows a theme of air-based war.

Parking is available for all those who visit this museum, and entry into the Hamilton Field History Museum is absolutely free.
